My Purpose: Crossing A River To Get Water

So being that I have a morbid fascination with over-analyzing and  frequently battle with self doubt, things such as recognizing and owning my purpose in life can be very difficult. Nothing is worse (in my opinion) than getting to a place in your life where you have absolutely no idea what you want to do next in regards to most things in your life and not knowing how to escape that frustrating place. A few hours ago I found myself in my room contemplating “what’s next, Kim” trying to find answers but to no avail as per usual but finally I couldn’t take it much longer. The difference in today vs any other day is that I finally succumbed to the voice in my head (no i’m not psycho) and let my heart lead my actions. Now usually I would spend time thinking about my purpose in life, do personality quizzes to give me a better ideas but still end up with no clue. All along the voice in my head had been telling me to “pray about it” but I would always brush it off and tell myself it wasn’t that “serious” to call upon God. Before you go any further I don’t want anyone to feel as though i’m  the most dedicated and sanctified Christian because I am absolutely not & in all honesty i’m just beginning my “TRUE WALK” in Christianity. However recently I’ve been trying to build a better relationship with God so that I can truly experience the life he has in store for me. Anyway, today I remembered a screenshot I took of a picture on Instagram and pulled it up in hopes that it would serve as some sort of guide to help me through this situation.

Ironically the very first line addresses someone who “can’t figure it out” whatever “it” may be and provides the location of a scripture for you to read.  In the provided text it says: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” That small passage alone automatically comforted me and helped eliminate every ounce of self doubt that I’ve ever had about the situation. Not sure about anyone else but there is nothing more comforting than knowing someone else is on my team to walk alongside me. I’m sure many are wondering why I chose that idiom “CROSSING A RIVER TO GET WATER” in the title but it fits perfectly because so many times we decide to go about finding solutions in complicated ways and wonder why they are to no avail. Although this just happened I am now rid of the self-doubt and confusion that comes along with not knowing because I understand that once I pray, stay focused and never doubt Him i’ll never be lost and confused again. Crossing the river to get water is what I have spent so much time doing and what many others do to because we feel as though we can and will “figure it out” on our own not understanding that we have the perfect mentor and guide waiting to comfort and lead us so we never have to feel that way again.

Bottom line is life isn’t easy and none of us are perfect (obvious by my Social Media I am not) but it makes it that much harder when we go about things the hard way and don’t ask Him for guidance rather than trying to figure it all out ourselves. If we could do it all and know everything then there would be no such worries or problems but we can’t so sometimes we have to listen to that voice, pay attention to those signs and have faith it’ll get better. Hope this helps someone!

Breath of Fresh Air: Inhaling Negativity & Exhaling Positivity

WARNING: This post contains extreme positive vibes and does not in any form or fashion promote negativity!!!

Negative Nancies, you may wanna exit stage left right about….NOW!

So let me start off by saying that I love this couple but I am particularly excited and anxious that we have a gracious, humble and spiritual black man (Russell) for our young black youth to look up and aspire to be like. It’s beautiful that now young black boys can have a man that they feel is like them or that someone like him is not a rarity. To many times have we seen so many people “big up” and want to be “thugs” in today’s society as a result of the father figure not present in their home or not teaching the child(ren) correctly. What many people tend to forget is that everyone does not aspire to become a thug or street dude and that there are plenty of people trying to create and maintain a relationship with God, have respect for themselves and others, practice chivalry and so on. Let’s not forget about Ciara who has accomplished so much at such a young age, remained positive and kind and never dimmed her beautiful spirit to accommodate those seeking to ruin her happiness. As women we go through so much not only as career-women, sisters, friends and confidantes but mainly as mothers and caregivers. Although I have not yet had the privilege of becoming a mother from what I have gathered it is not only a physically taxing responsibility but a mental one as well. Now on top of that let’s add the fact that you are a single parent to that equation and it equals a rewarding yet stressful task. In regards to Ciara’s situation I can’t comment on a bunch because I don’t know a lot but I do respect how classy, kind and thoughtful she has been throughout recent comments and the unnecessary media frenzy regarding her relationship and her child. Seemingly class and tact have become a rarity in today’s society but she never ceases to amaze me in how she handles the comments and craziness especially in regards to her personal life. Recent negative comments made, which are not even worth mentioning, were not only disrespectful but inconsiderate of her child once you take into consideration that in a few years (kids are becoming more tech savvy earlier these days) he’ll be reading about the silly hoopla and understandingly be confused and possibly upset. As a couple, Russell and Ciara seem to be handling everything with such grace and class which I especially love considering Ciara is raising a young man to handle himself in such a manner and as parents YOU are their first teacher. My hope and prayer is that Ciara’s son grows to become a confident, well-spoken, classy, educated young man who understands the meaning of respect, how to remain classy through everything and understands the strength and grace that not only his mother but Russell exude through adversity and success. People ask me all the time what I love about Ciara and although I obviously am a fan of her musically I truly adore her sweet and gentle spirit and how she refuses to give up or let anyone affect her with their negativity. Not only is it refreshing to see a beautiful couple confidently practicing their beliefs without inhibitions but I am hopeful this couple will ignite change and allow young people to see a couple do positive things in their community, blaze trails in their respective lanes all while maintaining their religious beliefs. I’m optimistic and looking forward to watching this couple remain UNBOTHERED by the noise, keep God first and maybe even marry and have beautiful brown babies along the way!! Hope you enjoyed and thanks for reading.

Happy 18th Birthday Tekau!

18 years ago today an angel Tekau Turiya Rasayon was born. 4 moths ago, Tekau went to serve God and left loving family members and friends behind. I met Tekau my freshman year while attending Surrattsville High in MD. Although me and Tekau were not that close she honestly was one of the funnest and carefree spirits I have ever witnessed. God blessed me and everyone who even came in contact with her by letting her grace our presence if only if were a little while. For the longest, I couldn’t figure out how a person could be so happy and positive and smart ALL the time but after sitting down and thinking about it I realized it was because she was truly an angel sent here to spread her happiness and positivity among us. There are no regrets for the simple fact that you taught me to appreciate the small things and to laugh at yourself when you make small mistakes.  After being in endless Honor Guard practices with you and laughing at how you always would be the first to fall or laugh when we did bearing checks, I am so appreciative that God sent you into my life in an aspect even though it was for a short amount of time. I know you are laughing, smiling, and dancing clumsily in heaven. Thank you!

Bow Wow & Ciara Appreciation! :)

Ok! So any & everyone who knows me/ knew me knows that I have had a major obsession w/ Bow Wow and Ciara. Every since I was in 5th grade with my best friend Deja we have done everything from collect pictures, magazines,  write fanfiction stories, indulge in endless conversations and etc. Here is just a collage of videos, pics, songs and more. It’s in no specific order, just felt like reminiscing!:)

First, there is the video (written for Ciara) that basically explains how Bow is feeling about C.

Next, is my favorite video ever…so cute..enough said!

C’s song “And I” reportedly written about a love when she was 14. Crazy how a 14 year old can feel and relay such raw emotion in their lyrics.

Here’s a video of them performing Like You

Flaws and All….Love the lyrics..so beautiful

Now here are the other random videos.

Bow is on Ustream just talking about old pictures and memories. At around  0:42 he starts talking about the picture and them.

Bow is on Tyra and she asks him about dating Ciara and her being taller. Fast forward to 1:23

OMG! One of my all time favorite videos of Bow on Ustream and his mom saying his name. May sound simple but his reaction is priceless.

Ciara does an interview talking about going on tour w/ Bow. Fast forward to 2:02

Here Ciara is on Wendy and she brings up her relationship a lil. Fast forward to 0:52

(sigh) Bow in a recent interview admitting to..well..i dont know. His reaction is cute tho.

Here’s Bow at his Lottery Ticket premiere where C just shows up…mmhhhmm 🙂

Bow has an interview and defend catches C when she trips (side eye) over Omarion’s shoe. Adorable.

Video of Bow’s 19th birthday w/ Ciara there. Fast forward to 1:35

Songs:

Bow Wow- Give It A Try

Apparently these two had been messing around during the time of this release (Dec 2010). Basically he’s telling her how he feels about their relationship:)

Months after they hung out together in Miami..not for sure but you be the judge…..

Clearly about Ciara after their breakup..his feelings afterwards.

A story summing up the events of 2010 up..basically.

~Inspiration~ Young Females Making Differences:Karma Bridges

It is sad how there are so many young women that are being overlooked for their accomplishments. I am only one person but I do believe that even if I shine a little light on these young women that it might inspire and influence other adolescents to take action! Here are a few young women that taking the world by storm:

First up is the 10 year-old daughter of Rapper/Actor Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Karma Bridges. Karma has recently (Dec. 6) teamed up with her father in order to create an educational website promoting good actions and learning for young children. On the interactive website there are kid-friendly original songs, games, and wonderful downloadable lesson plans  for parents & teachers. Many are wondering” What does a 10 year-old have to sing about”? Well Karma has 9 educational songs including songs about fractions, manners, waking up and etc. I was completely amazed and in awe of this little’s girl creativity and cute voice! It is truly beautiful to see the younger generation taking advantage of their education and making it fun for others. Check out Karma’s website at: http://karmasworld.com/#/home & her iTunes page: http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/karma-bridges/id414058063

Tips for choosing your ideal career& my story!!

Ugh! That’s the only word that can describe my frustration! For years I wanted to become an Entertainment Lawyer (i.e. Phaedra Parks, Robert Kardashian, etc) but recently I encountered a dilemma. Every since I was in 7th grade I knew that I loved food and might even have an unhealthy addiction towards it but nonetheless was passionate about it. Growing up in a household and family full of cooks I found it hard not to pick up on little tips from certain family members and began to wonder could this mean that I should try looking into a career in the food industry. Welp after brushing off the idea just this night I had a talk with my sister about food and she asked me “you ever think about going into cooking professionally”? Although this wasn’t the first time I, for some reason, took this inquiry very serious and I am,somewhat, looking into it. With little knowledge and LOTS of confusion I went online to find advice to help me and learned a lot of helpful tips on finding a suitable career. Take a look here: http://www.abroadeducation.com.np/articles/choosing-career-tips.html

Hope it’s helpful and really take the time to consider these tips and how they apply to your life!!

Goo-Goo Gah-Gah for the Queen???

Movie star/Producer/Rapper and Entrepreneur Queen Latifah has ALOT on her plate but could she be looking to add another title:mother? The Queen tells More Magazine that she is without a doubt planning to adopt. ” I’ve wanted to adopt since I was 17 or 18 years old.” Will she follow the lead of some of hollywood’s most famous stars: Angelina Jolie and Madonna and adopt from another country? Nope, the Latifah says ““I want to adopt an American baby though, you know what I mean, no offense.Just because there are so many kids here that need our help. My sister is a social worker, and there are just so many kids that could use a good home.” Yayyyyy can’t wait to see the baby! Congratsss!!
